Targeted to increase forest cover and mitigate the effects of climate change, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc.'s (RAFI) One to Tree (OTT) program is RAFI’s national tree growing program that helps restore forests, support biodiversity conservation, and reduce the effects of climate change through community-based forest management. It brings together diverse stakeholders, such as government units, the private sector, civil society organizations, and local communities, to champion environmental stewardship within their respective localities.
Highlighting the ecological importance of growing native trees and supporting them through providing another source of income, the farmers and their families become the guardians of their own natural heritage.
The impact goes beyond environmental benefits, as “One to Tree” transforms individuals into community leaders who are passionate about preserving their local ecosystems. Through its community-based approach, the program demonstrates that when communities are engaged and empowered, they become proactive protectors of their environment.
