DISTRIBUTION:
Found in secondary forests; usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree in mixed dipterocarp forests of up to 200 masl; also found in alluvial and dry sites (hillsides and ridges) on clayey to sandy soils.
DESCRIPTION:
Habit: Large tree growing up to 30 m high and about 80 cm dbh.
Leaves:
Obovate, terminally crowded; 10-15 cm long; base cuneate, apex broadly rounded or sub-cordate.
Flowers:
Yellowish white.
Fruit:
Hard, ellipsoid, up to 5 cm long.
USES:
Wood:
Used for house construction, cabinet works and making bancas.
Bark:
Yields yellow dye.
