The project was set in motion last October 2017. The four-year project is expected to bring positive effects not only to the environment, but to the local farmers and students as well.
The project site covered Districts 2, 4, 5, and 7 of the DepEd Cebu Province Schools. With a total donation amounting to ₱ 33,010,416.00, the project was able to effectively engage and capacitate many teachers and students.
As of June 2020, 314 school nurseries were constructed, 314 schools collaborated, 347 teachers were trained, and a staggering 45,903 students were engaged. Over half a million seedlings were planted within 628 hectares of land.
Amidst the logistical challenges, all those involved in the project emerged with optimistic results. To date, the project is proving to be a success with over 92% seedling survival rate. One to Tree aims to continue the milestones with many more similar projects in the future.
One to Tree, a program of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc., offers community-based and environmentally appropriate tree growing services.
